On August 15, 2006, my son and my only child was abruptly taken from me. Larry was shot 19 times and killed in Chamblee, Georgia by Dekalb County Police Officers. He was only 22 years old. He became an athlete at the tender age of 5. He played three(3) sports, football, baseball, and basketball. Baseball and basketball he played for 14 years.
Larry's heart was so big, big enough to spread love over and around everyone he came in contact with. He was like a magnet, people just gravitated towards him, he always had kind and encouraging words to share.
He approached everyone with the warmest smile across his face and greeted them with a hug. Because of who he was to me, his family and friends, this Foundation For Families In Crisis was established December, 2006.
I believe in my heart Larry would want me in his memory to lend a helping hand to those mothers, fathers, and families who have been faced with a financial hardship due to the loss of their loved one in hopes of lessening the burden.
